Surface Treatment on Thrown Pots, June 6-7 (Saturday & Sunday), 9:30 am to 5 pm, $220.
Join Nan Rothwell at City Clay for two days devoted to texture on wheel-work. We’ll use wiggle-wires, sodium silicate, lace, and a variety of found objects to vary the surface of newly-thrown pots. Participants should know how to center and pull up a cylinder. Come prepared to take home leather-hard work.
Altering: Combining Sections, Varying Surfaces, July 11 – 12 (Saturday & Sunday), 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, $220.
The workshop will focus on taking thrown components and making them into new forms. Projects may include making oval and squared shapes, adding sections to thrown bases, and using a variety of techniques to change the surface quality of newly-thrown pieces. Participants should know how to center and pull up a cylinder. Come prepared to take home leather-hard work.
