Barramoney croppedClay Workshop with Ricardo Idagi

In partnership with the The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia

Join Indigenous Australian sculptor Ricardo Idagi for a demonstration of his hand-building techniques. Idagi is a Meriam man who grew up on Mer (Murray Island) in the Torres Strait, north of mainland Australia. His diverse practice includes feathered dari (the Torres Strait headdress), earthenware sculpture, and other works which incorporate found materials such as beer cans. His work is held in numerous public collections such as the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria, among others.

Join us for an opening reception (September 12 at 5 pm) and demonstration workshop (September 14 from 1-4 pm) with local master potter Tom Clarkson. Tom heads up the ceramics program at PVCC and is a prominent voice in the local ceramics community. You won’t want to miss this.
